Resumen

El proyecto “Embalaje de objetos de la colección de mobiliario del Museo Histórico Nacional de Chile” ha incluido la ejecución de varios análisis a un conjunto de materiales de uso frecuente en el embalaje de objetos patrimoniales. Estos incluyeron la realización de test de Oddy para la detección de emanación de compuestos orgánicos volátiles (VOC); la medición de pH por contacto; y la extracción acuosa y de gases.

Los resultados indican que algunos materiales que son habitualmente recomendados como de alta calidad para la conservación, como IsofoamMR y Tyvek®, en realidad presentan calidad temporal. Por otra parte, el adhesivo 3MTM Hot Melt Adhesive código 3764Q, ha sido clasificado como no utilizable. Gracias a los resultados obtenidos, el presente proyecto ha podido dilucidar las calidades de los materiales disponibles en el mercado nacional y ha elegido aquellos que brindan las mejores condiciones para optimizar el embalaje de objetos patrimoniales.
